Job Seeker and Worker Services

Do you want to advance in your current career?

Workforce Alliance provides the services and support you need to achieve your goals. Through our consortium of partners, we provide career assessment and guidance, job search assistance, job search workshops, job placement assistance, social services, training, basic skills upgrades, and more. (See a map of our campus.) Most services are provided at no cost to you. Job Search and Placement Assistance

Workforce Alliance provides job search assistance at many partner locations throughout Washington County. Job search assistance includes:
  • Career assessment and counseling:
    Career Specialists work with you one- on-one to identify your skills and career goals, and help you develop a career plan.
  • Employment preparation workshops:
    Our workshops teach you vital employment skills such as how to write a resume, how to interview with confidence, and effective job search techniques.
  • Resource room:
    Resource rooms offer the resources you need to find a job: computers for writing resumes and cover letter, printers, copiers, fax machines, internet access, and phones. The Employment Department's online job listings can be viewed, and other job announcements are also posted. Written materials such as resume writing books are available as well.
  • Job fairs and employer presentations:
    Job fairs and employer presentations are offered at different locations to give you direct access to employers.
  • Labor market information:
    The most current labor market information is available via the Employment Department's web site www.olmis.org to help you find occupational information (e.g. wages, employment projections).
  • Placement:
    Career specialists work with you to help you find the job that is right for you.

Education and Training

Workforce Alliance partners help you acquire the skills you need to get a job, or move forward in your career. We offer educational classes such as:
  • English-as-a-Second language (ESL)
  • Reading and math instruction
  • GED preparation
We also offer short-term training programs to help you acquire new employment skills. These training programs change as employer's needs change. Examples of training programs include:
  • Preparation to work in the health care industry
  • Call center training
Other vocational and technical training opportunities are available for those who qualify, such as dislocated workers or people with low incomes or other barriers to employment. If the necessary training program is not available within Workforce Alliance, our knowledgeable staff will refer you to the right training program for you.


Retention Services

Workforce Alliance also offers a menu of retention services to help you be successful and stable in your current job.
  • Some of our partners offer emergency assistance for rent, medical supplies, heating, and transportation.
  • Drug and alcohol treatment and counseling services are available to people experiencing a problem that threatens their job, such as addiction, depression, or family crisis.
  • Ongoing financial support (for child care, health insurance, food, and other costs) is also available to those who qualify through Adult and Family Services or Vocational Rehabilitation.

Support Services

Many of our partners offer support services to help you and your family, regardless of whether you are looking for employment. Not all the support services can be listed here, so please call and ask about any service you are interested in.

Support services offered by Workforce Alliance partners include:

  • Personal advocacy
  • Emergency assistance for rent, medical supplies, heating, transportation,
and other needs

Services by Population

Some of our Workforce Alliance partners specialize in providing services to particular populations, such as youth or people with disabilities.
