Whether you are unemployed, underemployed, facing a layoff or you want to redirect your career, we have the resources to assist you in your search for employment.

Portland Community College and Washington County Workforce Development work closely with local businesses in the traditional manufacturing industries to create short term training programs for entry level Operator and Technician positions specific to their hiring requirements.Training varies from 7 weeks to 2 terms, and upon completion companies are ready to hire graduates!

Students must first attend an informational orientation and assessment to learn more about the trainings

Manufacturing Trainings & Educational Services :

  • Entry-Level Health Careers for Non-Native English Speakers:Learn about Vocational ESL Healthcare Trainings at Portland Community College. Trainings include : Career Pathways Direct Care Worker Training, HOPE (Healthcare Oregon Pathways to Employment) VESL CNA Training (a partnership between PCC CLIMB for Health Professional and PCC Rock Creek ESOL Department), Career Pathways VESL Healthcare Training
    Next VESL CNA will run in Fall 2012
  • Entry-Level High Tech Skills Training for non-native English speakers (ESOL):This 8 week training prepares job seekers to work for circuit board manufacturers or related companies. Level 3 English skills or higher are required. 85% of students are hired after completion. Companies that hire graduates of this program include Vanguard EMS, Inc. and Precision Wire Components. Next session Spring 2012(Tentative). There will be an evaluation for Listening, Reading, Writing and Math.
  • Manufacturing Foundations Training: Open to all job seekers interested in machine manufacturing. High school diploma or GED required. This 6.5 week training is located at the PCC Willow Creek Center. 80% of students are hired after completion. Hiring companies include Precision Wire Components, ClearEdge Power and ViaSystems. Next session Spring 2012. There will be Reading and Math assessment.
